The First Ever Terrarium Photo

This is the first ever photo of the Terrarium camera. It was taken on Thursday, ‎November ‎2, ‎2023, ‏‎9:28:32 AM. The Original Terrarium cam was in service from 11/2/2023 - 9/6/2025. This was located in my closet next to my server which was running the 24/7 live camera. The grow light was connected to my closets rod. It was plugged into a timer that would turn off around 9-10pm at night, and turn back on 6-7am. Also, you can see the timestamp in the bottom left corner if you are interested on when the photo was taken.

The Terrarium Cam has been indefinitely discontinued until further notice. The reason for this is because I am now living in an apartment with my wonderful girlfriend, and there is no spot that the server can sit and the camera be connected. This is not the end of the terrarium cam, this is just a hiatus that could change at any time, and hopefully be upgraded to be better than ever. For some reason, the picture setting was not functioning and I couldn't figure out why, so the last official picture is from January 8th, 2025.

We got an Upgrade!

Here is the first photo since I got once I got a new jar that I can place a terrarium in. This was given to me by my father and went through a few iterations. First with a lid that you couldn't see through, then I ended up using a clear plastic wrap to try and see through but it didn't work the best. Then I eventually ordered some clear acrylic discs that I put over the top.

What you can see is underneath the shelving, I had some extra supplied for gardening. Including scissors, a couple flattening tool, a couple tweezers, as well as some soil, water, moss, and some flowers. I only planted Red Fittonias as they are easy to grow, it thrives in high-humidity, low-light, and consistently moist environments, which is literally what a terrarium is.

We got an ANOTHER Upgrade!

And also a downgrade. The camera was switched to a Logitech C920. here I am attempting to grow some duckweed, as I loved the idea of putting a pond inside of my big terrarium. I eventually did, but it didn't look as good as I wanted. The duckweed was harvested towards the end of the November from a local lake. It did take a while, but I eventually got them to grow.

Oh and also we have started growing a terrarium in a tiny little tictac container.

We got an ANOTHER Upgrade!

Not much to say for this one, but you can see me standing in the photo too. Just got another jar to start growing another terrarium. Nothing special to see about this one, its just in its early stages. as you can see the duckweed hasn't really grown yet. but TRUST ME, it will!

ACRYLIC!

This was the first instance of getting acrylic lids. You can also see that I started growing duckweed in a tiny "pond" inside the main terrarium. As you can see the duckweed in the bigger container hasn't grown much, mainly because duckweed has a hard time growing in deeper water. This is why not only did I move it to a tiny pond, but I also sanded down the insides and super glued soil onto it for nutrients.

DUCKWEED!!

In this photo you can see that that the duckweed finally started to grow. I also moved around the jars a little bit. This is how the terrarium remained until the end of it's life span. I eventually did take the pond out, however.

The Final Photo

This was the last photo taken of the terrarium cam. Like mentioned I couldn't figure out why the camera kept stopping when taking photos, but it remained in this state for a while until I eventually moved out of this home in Mid-Late 2025. Another note is that for a brief time there was a second camera view, but it only lasted about a week and I have no documentation of it.
